One of the FSU CFP Program’s greatest assets is the knowledge and professional experience its instructors bring to the classroom. The program’s faculty are practicing CFP® professionals who also hold additional licenses, credentials, or degrees related to the subjects they teach.
Meet the Faculty

Bruce Hagan, CFP®
Investment Planning
Bruce Hagan is a graduate of Florida State University with a degree in Communications. He holds the Certified Financial Planner™ designation; FINRA licenses 4, 7, 24, 51, and 66; and a State of Florida license as a life-insurance and variable-annuity agent.
He has more than 35 years of experience in the securities industry and owns his own business. Along with his work as a Financial Advisor, he teaches Investment Planning for the FSU CFP Program.
Bruce enjoys fitness training, golf, and fishing.

M. Kathryn (Kate) Clark, AIF®, CFP®, CPFA®
Insurance & Risk Management Planning / Retirement Planning
Kate Clark is Managing Partner at Cypress Capital and has more than 18 years of experience in the financial industry. She began her career in 2007 and held positions at First Franklin Financial, AMB Wealth, and Barnes Capital Group before founding Cypress Capital in 2018. In 2024, she was named an InvestmentNews Rising Star Honoree.
Kate holds the AIF®, CPFA®, and CFP® designations, securities licenses, and insurance licenses covering variable and fixed life and annuity products, health insurance, and disability insurance. She earned a Bachelor of Science from the University of Florida and a Certificate of Financial Planning from Florida State University.
She has served as a guest lecturer for FSU’s Retirement Planning Today Series and has contributed to several community and professional organizations, including the Community Foundation of North Florida, Gadsden Arts Center and Museum, LPL Financial Ambassador Council, Tallahassee Chamber of Commerce, and Leadership Tallahassee.

Erin McCarty, CPFA®, CFP®
Insurance & Risk Management Planning / Retirement Planning
Erin McCarty is a Partner with Cypress Capital. She began her financial career in 2015 while pursuing a degree in Finance at Florida State University and previously worked with Stifel Financial, Morgan Stanley, and LPL Financial.
Erin holds a Bachelor of Science in Finance and a Certificate of Financial Planning from Florida State University. She has earned the CPFA® designation and is a CFP® professional, with securities and insurance licenses covering variable and fixed life and annuity products.
She is active in the Tallahassee community and has volunteered with Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Big Bend since 2017.

Tom Harrison, Jr., CFP®, CPA
Income Tax Planning
Tom Harrison received Bachelor of Science degrees in Accounting and Finance from Florida State University in 1996. He joined Lanigan & Associates, P.C. in 1997, has been a Certified Financial Planner™ since 2002, and is also a Certified Public Accountant.
Tom teaches the Income Tax Planning course and has also served as an adjunct professor at Thomas University and Southwest Georgia Technical College. He has more than 20 years of experience in the field.
Outside of work, he plays tennis, coaches high-school tennis at Brookwood School, participates in CrossFit, and enjoys inshore fishing.

Donna Jordan, CFP®, AIF®, CLU®, RHU®
Introduction to Financial Planning / Capstone
Donna Jordan is a financial-planning practitioner and investment advisor. She holds a Master’s degree in Education and the Accredited Investment Fiduciary®, Chartered Life Underwriter®, Registered Health Underwriter®, and Certified Financial Planner™ designations.
Donna has more than 30 years of experience across a broad range of financial services. She has also held several educational positions within her field and currently teaches both Introduction to Financial Planning and the Capstone course.
She enjoys hockey, baseball, football, cooking, and spending time with family.

J.R. Saginario, CFP®, AEP®
Estate Planning
J.R. Saginario holds an M.A. in International Affairs from Florida State University and is a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER® and Accredited Estate Planner®. He has more than 25 years of experience serving families across banking, mortgages, credit, insurance, investments, and holistic wealth strategy.
In addition to leading the Estate Planning segment for the FSU Financial Planning program, he is an adjunct professor at Tallahassee State College.
His community service includes work with Elder Care Services, the Tallahassee Regional Estate Planning Council of the Community Foundation of North Florida, the Economic Club of Florida, St. John’s Episcopal Church, the Tallahassee Symphony Orchestra, and Florida State University Music Associates.
