Design and Usability

Visual effects have been added to the pages to create an exciting experience within the site as well as draw the users focus to the images of the Turner designs. An example of these effects is the rotating image on the right side of the interface that has a smooth fading transition into the next image. In addition, when a user rolls over the images on the left, the image appears to light up and becomes the main image on the right side of the webpage. The last effect added to the page is the animated Turner logo on the top-left corner of the page created using Macromedia Flash. All together, the effects are designed to have a professional feel while directing the focus to the Turner award-winning designs.

Accessibility

We specialize in search engine placement for our clients, whether it be by conventional search engines or bid per click. In addition, this site is designed to be accessible and cover all US Section 508 Accessibility Standards. This means that all objects on each of the pages will be accessible by users with disabilities as set forth by the government accessibility standards. All content will be designed so that a user with visual impairments can increase the text size within the browser without affecting the page layout. All links within Turner Construction, Inc. are text links, as opposed to graphic links, so that they can be increased in size as well. In addition, within the code, the alternate text attribute will be added to all image tags so that someone trying to access the site using a screen reader will be able to utilize a description of the image. Mouse over each of the images and text on the template to view an accessibility description of each that will be utilized by a screen reader.

All web pages are constructed with valid elements and their legal attributes as set forth by the W3C Markup related recommendations that are set forth in the XHTML 1.1 Recommendation. Navigations systems, both main systems and sub systems, will be consistent across all site areas. All page areas and processes, such as Headings, main content areas, communication areas, forms and form submissions will be presented consistently.

Site Maintenance

As a website is built, preliminary decisions need to be made about collecting data. Content management may easily be one of the most important aspects of the web design process. Two interactive elements are necessary to accomplish this task, a database to store information, and form pages with built-in data collecting capabilities. An Access database will be created for data storage including customer and product information, in addition to the secure The Content Management System to manage and view all stored data within the database. An e-mail form will also be created to allow users to contact Turner.
