Add a Syllabus

Overview
The syllabus is a roadmap to your course providing basic information on assignments, requirements and policies, and communicating your expectations for student success. See Effective Syllabi for creating a syllabus and strategies for classroom use, or view the video Uploading a Syllabus to Blackboard. One common use of Blackboard by instructors is to store important documents like syllabi where their students can access them at any time.

Add a syllabus using the Blackboard Control Panel:

  1. Go to the course in which you wish to add your syllabus.
  2. Select Control Panel in the course menu on the left.
  3. Select Syllabus under Content Areas.
  4. Select Item.
  5. Provide a name for the item.
  6. Attach the item (from your local computer or from within your content collection).
  7. If you wish your students to be able to see the item, make sure that Make Content Available is set to Yes.
  8. Select Submit.
  9. Select Ok.
