The FSU College of Social Work offers an Advanced-Standing Master of Social Work (MSW) degree online as well as Traditional and Advanced-Standing MSW degrees at one of three off-campus sites. The goal of the master's program in Social Work is to provide quality preparation for advanced practitioners who will work with diverse client systems and problems.
If you have completed an undergraduate degree in social work from a program accredited by the Council on Social Work Education (CSWE) and live in a geographical area that is served by the program you may make an application for the MSW, Online Advanced Standing Program. Students must complete 39 credit hours of required social work courses and electives in the Clinical Social Work Concentration to include an advanced clinical field placement that can be completed in the area in which the student resides. It is recommended that students take 2 courses for a total of 6 credit hours each semester. This allows most students to finish the program in six semesters (2 years).
If you have not earned a BSW from a CSWE accredited institution, you could be eligible to participate in our MSW, Off-Campus Traditional Program at one of our off-campus programs in Gainesville, Jacksonville, or Panama City. Students must complete 61 credit hours of required social work courses and electives in the Clinical Social Work Concentration to include a generalist and an advanced clinical field placement that can both be completed in the area in which the student resides. This program is designed to be completed in nine semesters (3 years).
Students in both the Advanced-Standing and Traditional MSW Programs must complete all course work within four years of starting the program. Please visit the College of Social Work website to determine whether or not you live in a geographical area that is served by this program.
