Graduate Students, Special
Admission
Students may be admitted to the University as a Special Student (non degree seeking) with the approval of an academic department. Check with the departmental Academic Coordinator (listed at the bottom of each Graduate Programs page) to determine whether you may enroll in classes as a non degree-seeking student.

Online application
To apply online as a Special Student, complete the online Special Student Application.
Special students are required to remit a nonrefundable fee of $30 with their application.
NOTE: If you miss the Admissions deadline, you may be able to apply as a special student through APPS. If you are interested in finding out more about special student status, please contact our office at advising@campus.fsu.edu.
Credit toward a degree
Work taken as a special student does not automatically carry graduate degree credit. However, the department chair and dean may approve up to 12 hours of graduate-level credit to count toward a degree, if the following restrictions have been met:
