Online Orientation for Graduate Students

Orientation is required for every incoming and returning online student. This orientation DOES NOT substitute for the required campus orientation for main campus students.  In addition, you may be required to complete a departmental orientation.  Contact your department for more information.  Becoming familiar with the University and its procedures will improve your performance and experience as a student.

To complete your Online Orientation, follow these steps:

Step 1 - Generate an FSUID (FSU Computer Account)
Previously, students had several accounts at the University for accessing different websites and applications. The University has now merged all of these accounts into one -- the FSUID. Each member of the University community; whether faculty, staff, or student, is required to generate an FSUID.
Students will find their FSUID provides convenient access to their course websites and other secure FSU applications (for example, Online Billing and Online Registration).
Your FSUID includes your username and password, which are essential for accessing FSU’s online learning environment (Blackboard). It also includes your official email address, which the University uses for all communication to you. You are also responsible for checking your email address frequently.

To obtain your account, Activate your FSUID. You'll need your Social Security Number and date of birth. Once completed, your FSU email address, username, and password will be displayed on your computer screen. Write each of these down and keep them in a safe place.

• To check your email messages -- Log in using your FSUID (username and password). In the drop-down box labeled "Server," choose the first option FSUID@fsu.edu (or "mailer.fsu.edu" if you are also an FSU employee). For additional instructions and information about account use and maintenance, including email forwarding, privacy features, and vacation notification, visit User Services Computer Support Helpdesk and click Email.


• Forget your password? -- If you forget your password, you can reset it by going to the Blackboard login page and clicking Reset your password. You will need a combination of your FSUID, FSUCard Number, Social Security Number, and login/username.
