Call for Proposals:
Annual Teaching With Technology Showcase

The Center for Teaching and Learning is pleased to announce the first annual Teaching With Technology Showcase, a one-day event held in conjunction with the Technology Fair sponsored by the FSU Computer Store.  The Teaching with Technology Showcase will highlight the use of instructional technology and multimedia to support student learning and course management at Florida State University. The showcase will be held on Wednesday, February 6 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and is open to all faculty, staff, and students.

We invite faculty, librarians, and teaching assistants to share their experiences in using technology in teaching, learning and assessment. Proposals should address one or more of the following topics:

• engaging students in active learning
• developing and delivering online courses
• extending learning outside of class
• fostering collaboration among students
• promoting effective online discussions
• creating simulations, animations, video, or other media-rich learning materials
• better organization and management of course materials
• making library resources available to students
• providing meaningful and timely feedback to students
• developing effective and efficient student assessments
• achieving any other goal that enhances students' learning experiences

Proposals should address the impact of strategies on student learning, and instructor efficiency and effectiveness as well as provide insight into challenges encountered and solutions discovered.

Proposals should also indicate an intended session type:

Exhibits: Displays, posters, demonstrations (including computer-based demos), sample learning activities, videos, etc. Exhibitors will interact with participants as they circulate around the Hall and should anticipate staffing their exhibit for at least 30 minutes during the 11am-2pm time period, but may also leave materials for attendees to review.

Presentations: 15- to 20-minute presentations in small breakout sessions. Standard presentation equipment will be available.

Please make your equipment needs explicit in your proposal.

Proposal Submission Information:

The deadline for proposal submissions is Friday, January 11, 2008.
