  • What's New in Blackboard 9.1

    Blackboard 9.1 focuses on simplifying tasks and incorporating new tools for teaching and learning. It features a user interface that takes advantage of Web 2.0 context menus, drag-and-drop functionality, and other modern techniques to provide an overall improved user experience. In addition to the new interface, Blackboard Learn offers several new tools for instructors.

  • Getting started with Kaltura
    Kaltura is a tool integrated within Blackboard that makes it easier to compose, edit and share videos. Streaming video for online courses is made easy with Kaltura. For more details on producing videos within Blackboard with Kaltura, view the supporting Quickstart Guide (PDF).
    Note that within this video a very effective means of screen capture is used. The software used to produce this effect, Camtasia, is available in the ODL Faculty Development Lab at UCC3500. Learn more about the lab by calling ODL at 850-644-4635 and asking for an Instructional Development Faculty member.

  • Getting started with Turnitin (video coming soon)
    Turnitin is a plagiarism detection service offered as part of FSU's Blackboard system that checks assignment submissions against a large database of journals, publications, and student-submitted papers, then reports the percentage of text matches against found sources. While the video tutorial is in production, you can still read more about Turnitin in two documents within the Blackboard Support Tab: Getting Started and a more detailed Turnitin Tutorial.

    Blackboard is the learning management system located at campus.fsu.edu that provides a secure environment for teaching and learning at FSU. While the Blackboard 9.1 video tutorial is in production, you can still view the PDF, Simple things to do with a Blackboard course website.

  • Customizing the Course menu (video coming soon)
    The course menu helps organize content and present it in a way that enables effective navigation of the site. Customize the default appearance and present your course at its best by ordering the links and using the display options that suit you best.

  • Building Content (video coming soon)
    Get a better understanding of the types of content that can be created within your course site, organize content in folders to create structure and flow throughout the course.
