Call for Proposals: Annual Teaching with Technology Showcase
The Center for Teaching and Learning is pleased to announce the first annual Teaching With Technology Showcase, a one-day event held in conjunction with the Technology Fair sponsored by the FSU Computer Store. We invite faculty, librarians, and teaching assistants to share their experiences in using technology in teaching, learning and assessment. Proposals should address the impact of strategies on student learning, and instructor efficiency and effectiveness as well as provide insight into challenges encountered and solutions discovered. The deadline for proposal submissions is Friday, Jan. 11, 2008.

Fall Kick-Off Teaching Conference - August 15, 16 and 17, 2007
This three-day series of workshops and discussions for new and returning FSU faculty will address a wide range of topics, from new instructional technologies to engaging and effective strategies and techniques for the traditional classroom. The sessions will be highly participatory and pragmatic, and will give instructors the opportunity to meet some of their colleagues from around campus while establishing contact with the team of teaching enhancement consultants at APPS: Center for Teaching and Learning. PIE Fall Teaching Conference
This annual conference for Teaching Assistants (TAs) will be held on August 22-23, 2007 from 8:00am - 4:00pm in the New Classroom Building. TAs will learn strategies for teaching, understand their role as a TA, and learn about University policy issues such as academic integrity and sexual harassment. They will also have an opportunity to earn a PIE Certificate and network with experienced TAs. Register Online

CTL Tech Tip 5: Flash video examples in Blackboard
See examples of Flash video that have been used effectively in Blackboard course sites. An excellent example is Professor Douglas Stevens' Accounting 5308 video intro to Current Issues in Accounting. When playing Flash video, place the cursor in the playback window for a smoother picture. Use our online form to request digital media from production staff.
