In addition to creating a real-world project to add to your career portfolio, the following are the required courses that you must take in order to become FSU Webmaster Certified. It is recommended that you take the courses in the order listed below.
XHTML 1.1: Study of today's best practices in Web Markup language coding. HTML, XML, and the convergence of the two in the various versions of XHTML are thoroughly covered. Special attention is paid to Section 508 accessibility. Also included is an overview of other emerging XML related technologies that deal with privacy, mobile devices, internationalism, and content description and syndication. [Register Now]
Cascading Style Sheets: Study of the separation of Web page style from Web page content using Cascading Style Sheets (CSS). Both CSS1 and CSS2 properties are thoroughly covered. Special attention is paid to Section 508 accessibility. Prerequisite: XHTML 1.1 or equivalent knowledge. [Register Now]
Web Architecture: Study of the Web Accessibility Initiative Guidelines, US Section 508, color theory, and other design principles. Intelligent project architecture techniques that contribute to efficient site maintenance are also thoroughly covered. [Register Now]
Dreamweaver: Study of the advantages and caveats in using an HTML editor. Students will use Dreamweaver CS4 to speed the development process while taming the editor into using valid code. Prerequisite: XHTML 1.1 and CSS or equivalent knowledge of each. [Register Now]
Introduction to Photoshop: Study of the use of graphics on a web site; distinguish different graphic formats; optimize graphics; and use Photoshop to create text titles, background images, navigational buttons, and more. [Register Now]
