In the coming months, the Legislature will begin to address one of our State's most important, and perhaps most contentious, issues - near shore oil and gas development. The Florida State University's Institute for Energy Systems, Economics and Sustainability was created to serve as a public resource for developing sustainable energy and climate change policy. Our goal is scholarship that leads to informed governance, economics and decision making in this energy-constrained era.
In furtherance of this mission, we are hosting a symposium entitled "Florida Symposium on Offshore Energy Part I: Oil & Gas". Expert panelists drawn from the oil and gas industry, state and federal regulatory agencies, and from some of the leading public and private research programs in the country will consider aspects of three interwoven topic areas:
1) Energy Resources and Development
2) Economics and Revenue and
3) Environment and Technology
Seating limited, registration closes October 30, 2009.
