Tests and Test-taking

HESI A2 (Admissions)

students testing

The Health Education Systems Incorporated A2 Admission (HESI) Test is required prior to the application deadline for the College of Nursing.

Registration and Payment

Scheduling for the HESI A2 is done on an individual basis during the months of January and February. It is the student's responsibility to schedule a date and time (within the dates provided) to take their exam. All other forms of the HESI exam (HESI E2, HESI Pharmacology, etc.) are scheduled by the Nursing Department Coordinator.

There is a $44 fee payable to FSU by money order or FSU Smart Chip, which is required to register for the HESI A2. CAT cannot schedule a person without having first received payment.

How can I make my HESI A2 payment?

  1. Come by the main office, UCC Suite 1200.
  2. Mail in the Registration Form and $44 money order to*:
Center for Assessment and Testing
C/O: Rebel Sauls
296 Champions Way
UCC Suite 1200
Tallahassee, FL 32306

*If you mail in your payment, you will receive a receipt number in an e-mail confirmation after your payment has been processed. Once you receive this number you can call (850) 644-8696 or e-mail testing@campus.fsu.edu to schedule your appointment.

Testing Center Guidelines

  1. Students must present either a valid FSU ID card with a clear photo or a government-issued ID with photo and signature.

  2. Examinees taking the HESI will not be permitted to carry their belongings into the testing room (UCC1100). CAT provides HESI examinees with lockers to store their belongings. If an examinee taking the HESI is found to have any personal belongings in the testing room, the examinee's test will be terminated and CAT will notify the appropriate parties. Examinees may leave food or beverages on top of their locker so that they can access these items during their break. Examinees will not be permitted to access any of their belongings which are stored in a locker until after the exam has been completed.

  3. Examinees may not bring loose papers (study guides, notes, or blank paper) into the testing room. A dry erase board is provided for every HESI exam.

  4. Calculators are provided within the program for HESI exams.

  5. Hats, head gear, wraps, etc. may not be worn during exams (except that which is prescribed for religious purposes).

  6. Examinees are expected to exhibit proper decorum when using CAT facilities. Violations of the following rules may result in the examinee being expelled from CAT for the remainder of the semester.
    • There is no talking in the testing room, except to proctors.
    • Leaving the testing room with any test content (questions, directions, etc.) or with any student responses is strictly prohibited.
    • Inappropriate behavior towards CAT staff or other students will result in dismissal from CAT.

  7. Computers in the testing room may not be used for any purpose other than to take exams. Any examinee caught attempting to use computers for any other purpose will be asked to leave immediately regardless if the exam has started or not.
