The American College Test (ACT) is America's most widely accepted college admission and placement exam. It measures general development of the student with emphasis on reasoning, analysis, problem solving, and the integration of learning from various sources.
The multiple choice test covers English, math, reading and science. An optional writing test requires a short essay and measures skill in planning. It takes just over 4 hours for the ACT without the Writing Test, including administration instructions and breaks. Actual testing time is 2 hours and 55 minutes.
